"Beware The Phantom of the Opera"
Ok, I did say I was going to write something about this in the morning. It's now mid afternoon. Busy morning actually.
Our trip to the show was with Parents, Grandparents and the youngest brother. Younger brother decided that he didn't want to go, which I think is quite a shame with how good the night was. I've been really quite looking forward to this night since I've really wanted to see it again. (This involved subtly and sometimes not so subtly hinting that "Wouln't it be really great to see that again!")
We went out for a lovely dinner at the Sofitel (I don't think I've had anyone call me 'sir' so many times in a row), and then walked down to The Princess Theater for the show. Obviously I was much much smaller last time I saw the show since I was sure the theater was much much bigger than actually was. Nevertheless, it was an absolutely brilliant show. Phantom would have to primarily be classified as a musical, but it combines so many other elements of Opera, Magical Stagecraft and Live action theater that it really is something else. The sets were magnificent, the music is some of Lloyd Webber's very best (there must only be 4 or 5 key motif's that run through the piece yet they comprise a whole spectrum of songs - by the end of the night everyone knows the tunes) and it was terrifically executed.
Ana Marina has a terrific voice and was a great choice for Christine. But the person who really stole the show would be Anthony Warlow. He has the most terrific range and control of his voice - in Australian's eyes I think he is truly the voice of the Phantom. As I think I've said earlier, it was really a fantastic performance and I hope it's not another 10 years before I get to see it again.
Afterwards we went out for coffee and tea whilst we talked and then headed back home as the thunderstorm started coming in from over the west. The morning's been pretty lazy - a late breakfast/morning-tea/lunch sort of thing with Nan and Pa and then sitting in front of the fire.
Despite the fact that exams start tomorrow I don't particularly feel like doing to much last minute cramming - that's what I've been doing all last week.

Highlights of the evening:
- Being told off for handing a plate to the waiter - by the waiter (The restaurant was obviously a little too classy for me)
- The view over the city from the restaurant on 35 floor
- Seeing Phantom of the Opera goes without saying
- +1 Phantom of the Opera T-Shirt
- The guy with an identical shirt to me
- Watching the thunder and lightning outside
